When Did You Stop?

When did you stop dreaming?

When did you stop exploring?

When did you stop dancing?

When did you stop believing?

When did you stop…….. whatever that you are no longer doing?

Today, these thoughts hit me hard. Babies and little children don’t care what others think. Everything is amazing, possible, and exciting. They believe, they trust, they explore, they experiment, and they keep trying. They are not worried about someone watching them, judging them, or something happening. They fall, they get back up!

Then the following scripture popped in my head Matthew 18:3(KJV) And said, Verily I say unto you, Except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven. (Emphasis added.)

As I spoke with a friend yesterday, we talked about her vision for something AMAZING!!! Like changing lives amazing, but then came all of the reasons, excuses, fears, doubts, and on and on. I know you know what I am talking about.

So, again I ask:

When did you stop dreaming?

When did you stop exploring?

When did you stop dancing?

When did you stop believing?

When did you stop _______________? (You fill in the blank.)

The truth is it doesn’t matter when you stopped, but understanding why does matter. Now I don’t mean the why as in the story behind it, but why as in why you made the decision to stop.

Well, let me explain it this way, as children there are experiences that happen and your sub-conscience mind makes a decision, then it creates a belief. In other words your subconscious mind is a big memory bank that stores your life experiences, memories and belief as stories. Then it uses those stories keep you “safe”. If you look at it from a different perspective, rather then keeping you safe, it often keeps you stuck. Either you are doing the same things over and over again or you are afraid of getting hurt, being judged, or making a mistake.

When you are aware of the why, you can thank your subconscious mind for doing its job and choose to dream, explore, dance, believe, and create whatever you want.

How you ask? It so simple that Nike used it as their slogan for years; Just do it!

Dream – lay down on the grass, watch the clouds and think about what you want to do, or be. Start writing down what you want for yourself, your family, your life.

Explore – observe the world around you. What do you see, hear, smell, feel? What do you want to understand more?

Dance – turn on your favorite music and just let your body express it’s self. STOP OVERTHINKING IT! Just do it!

If you don’t know how to even start doing it, find someone to mentor you. The Webster Dictionary states that a Mentor is a trusted counselor or guide. Find someone that is doing whatever it is you want to do and ask them to teach you.

Everything is AMAZING, POSSIBLE, and EXCITING! Start believing, trusting, exploring, experimenting, and keep trying. STOP worrying about everyone else and if something will happening. If you fall, get back up!

YOU, yes YOU reading this get to decide how your story is written. You can live based on the story your subconscious created when you didn’t know any better or you can write the story you want to live into and then take a step forward and create it.

Start dreaming now!

Start exploring now!

Start dancing now!

Start whatever else your heart desires now!
